Dyslipidemia

Dyslipidemia

Dyslipidemia or Hyperlipidemia is a condition in which blood fat levels, particularly cholesterol and triglycerides, are higher than normal. This condition may not cause symptoms, but it is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, such as coronary artery disease, stroke, and paralysis.

Causes and risk factors
High blood fat may be caused by a combination of factors, including:
Eating habits that contain too much saturated fat and fried foods
Lack of exercise causes the body to burn less energy.
Genetics or family history of heart disease and high cholesterol
Chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity

Dangers of Dyslipidemia
Although the disease often has no symptoms in its early stages, excess fat can accumulate in the artery walls, causing hardening and narrowing. This results in insufficient blood supply to the heart and brain, a major cause of death in many Thais.

Care and prevention
Prevention and control of blood fat can be done by
• Eat healthy foods, reduce fried, oily, salty and sweet foods.
• Increase your intake of vegetables, fruits, grains and good proteins such as fish and beans.
• Exercise regularly, at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
• Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption.
• Regular health checks and blood lipid levels.
